Steele Group was selected to design the renovation and upfit of the 72,500 SF second floor of the Beaty Center, which will be home to the Winston-Salem Police Department Forensic Services Division’s new Forensic Crime Laboratory & expanded Evidence Storage unit, as well as the Fire Department’s Training Facility. The Forensic Crime Lab will include a firing range and a bullet recovery tank for ballistics analysis, a firearms library, latent prints analysis, photo processing, and crime scene support functions. The Evidence Storage unit will be for long-term “cold case” storage. The Fire Department Training Facility will be for recruit training and continuing education.
