ROBESON HEALTHCARE/OUR HOUSE PERINATAL RESIDENCE

Pembroke, NC
2009 – 2013

Our House is the name of the Perinatal Residence and substance abuse therapy clinic for expecting and postpartum women in Pembroke, NC. It was developed by Scott A. Redinger, Inc., licensed by the North Carolina Division of Health Services Regulations and is operated by Robeson Health Care Corporation.

The residence allows the women to maintain a sense of place and privacy by providing twelve bedrooms, each with private baths, focused around common living, dining and kitchen areas. The use of common areas in the residence building creates a supportive residential environment where the women and their infants can live for up to two years. The separate Therapy Clinic offers space for counseling services, 12-step programs, parenting classes, nutritional classes and job readiness coaching to the residents and to the surrounding community.

With the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency’s Supportive Housing Development Program as the primary funding source, this project is designed to meet the requirements of System Vision’s Affordable Housing with Energy Star. This makes it, on average, about 15% more efficient than a similar building built to current Energy Code standards.
